Pha Din Pass is 32 km long, 1,500 m above sea level, and 100 km from Dien Bien Phu City. It is the natural boundary between the two provinces of Son La and Dien Bien and considered one of the four great passes of the Northwest region. During the resistance war against the French, Pha Din Pass was the lifeline for transportation of weapons, ammunition, food, and human strength for the Dien Bien Phu Campaign. Under the enemy's bombs and bullets, with determination and bravery, our soldiers, militia, and young volunteers still held on to pave ways, clear bombs and mines, and maintain the lifeblood of traffic to ensure timely support for the campaign until the day of victory.
