But few people know that, in addition to the strength of historical tourism, Dien Bien is also a potential land for resort tourism, health care with a system of hot mineral springs, well-planned homestays or eco-tourism sites, explore the natural landscape and experience the cultural identity of 19 ethnic groups.

In the tourism development orientation of Dien Bien province to 2025, orientation to 2030 clearly states: Developing tourism into a spearhead economic sector of the province on the basis of effectively exploiting potentials and advantages based on three main pillars are: Historical - spiritual tourism; tourism national cultural identity, explore the natural landscape; tourism, recreation, health care.  In that tripod, the cultural heritages of 19 ethnic groups continue to play an important role in tourism development, making the smokeless industry soon become the spearhead of the province.

Dien Bien has a community of 19 ethnic groups living together. Each ethnic group has its own unique culture, creating a colorful and attractive overall picture that attracts tourists.

Coming to Dien Bien, more than 100km to the North, Muong Lay town is distinguished by rows of stone roof stilt houses leaning against the mountain, located close together along the two sides of the Da River, creating a scene that is both poetic, charming and unique. At the intersection of 3 rivers, including Da River, Nam Na River and Nam Lay Stream, there are 9 ethnic communities, in which the Thai ethnic group accounts for 70% of the population, mainly the White Thai.

The Thai people here still keep the unique cultural heritages and traditional rituals of the white Thai people such as: Swallowtail boat racing festival, Kin Pang Then ceremony, ancient Xoe Thai. In particular, the house on stilts roofed with black stone, this is a traditional architectural feature that has been preserved and preserved by the Thai community for generations.

Not only unique by the stilt houses with black stone roofs located along the Da River, Muong Lay town has 2 national intangible cultural heritages, namely Xoe Thai Art and Kin Pang Then Festival of the White Thai people. To develop tourism, this locality has exploited the advantages and potentials of developing typical tourism products imbued with traditional cultural identity. A number of unique traditional festivals of ethnic minorities such as the swallowtail boat racing festival have been restored and restored, attracting tens of thousands of tourists to visit and experience.

Tua Chua district also has potential for tourism development with a system of caves recognized as national and provincial relics; The population of 100 hundred-year-old Shan Tuyet tea trees in Sin Chai commune is recognized as a Vietnam Heritage Tree. The district is focusing on exploiting its inherent strengths, investing in developing tourism to discover and experience, creating a unique impression for tourists when visiting.

Coming to Tua Chua, visitors will experience the unique indigenous cultural features that have been recognized as National Intangible Cultural Heritage such as: Khen Mong, Xoe Thai, embroidered shoe making of Xa Phang people, and immersing in the typical highland cultural space at Spring Festival, fairs, and night markets.

And there are many potentials that are being interested, exploited and developed into typical tourism products by localities. In order to turn potentials and advantages into development opportunities, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism is focusing on implementing international and regional cooperation activities to promote linkages with the northern provinces of Laos, Northeast Thailand to form international tourist routes and follow the Northwest arc. Contributing to promoting and building Dien Bien to become an attractive destination of the Northern Midlands and Mountains by 2025./.
