Dien Bien is a province with divided terrain, many rivers and streams and a large difference in flow, which creates strong hydroelectricity and is favorable for the development of the small and medium hydropower industry. The whole province has 41 small and medium hydropower projects, with a total installed capacity of 457.2MW. In which, 7 hydropower plants are operating and exploiting with a capacity of 110.1MW and total annual electricity output of 275,420KWh.
