Dien Bien - Thanh Hoa Culture and Tourism Week will take place from January 19 to 21, 2024.

On January 15, 2024, the Provincial People's Committee issued Plan No. 19/KH-UBND on organizing the Dien Bien - Thanh Hoa Culture and Tourism Week in Thanh Hoa province, 2024.

According to the plan, to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the Dien Bien Phu Victory (May 7, 1954 - May 7, 2024), the 115th anniversary of the founding of Dien Bien province (June 28, 1909 - June 28, 2024). and 75 years of establishment of Thanh Hoa Provincial Party Committee (October 10, 1949 - October 10, 2024); On the days from January 19 to 21, 2024, in Thanh Hoa city, Dien Bien - Thanh Hoa Culture and Tourism Week will take place, within the framework of the program will take place many events such as: Opening ceremony with the theme "Dien Bien - A meeting place to spread flowers"; cultural exchange programs, traditional cultural performances of ethnic groups in Dien Bien and Thanh Hoa provinces; highland cultural space, photo exhibition themed "Thanh Hoa with Dien Bien Phu Campaign"; street performances; display images of residence activities, life and cultural heritages; display and introduce culture, tourism, trade and agriculture of Dien Bien province and Thanh Hoa province; Conference on tourism promotion and promotion of Dien Bien province...

The purpose of this activity is to contribute to introducing and affirming the achievements of cooperation in various fields between Dien Bien Province and Thanh Hoa Province, contributing to strengthening exchanges, exchanging and expanding links and promoting development investment between the two localities; demonstrating the cultural harmony and solidarity between the people of Dien Bien and Thanh Hoa ethnic groups. Continue to promote and tighten the good relationship between the two localities, especially in coordinating and supporting the organization of typical activities and events of Dien Bien Province and Thanh Hoa Province.

According to research, in the entire Dien Bien Phu campaign in 1954, Thanh Hoa province contributed 30% of people of working age to civil participation with a total number of citizens up to 178,924 people and 27 million working days; More than 3,500 bicycles were mobilized up to nearly 16,000 transports, 1,126 boats, especially 31 cars, 180 ox carts, 42 horses, 3 elephant cutting boards. Thanh Hoa transported to the Dien Bien front with 9,000 thousand tons of rice accounting for 56% and 450 tons of dried fish, 2,000 pigs, 1,300 cows, 250,000 eggs, 150 tons of beans, 20,000 bottles, jars of fish sauce and hundreds of tons of vegetables accounting for 40% of the food used in the campaign.

At the Dien Bien Phu Historical Victory Museum, there is also displayed the wheelbarrow of Mr. Trinh Dinh Bam, a citizen of Dinh Lien commune, Yen Dinh district, Thanh Hoa province, who made the A-shaped wheelbarrow, in which 1 part of the wheel is made of wood of the ancestral altar. With this vehicle, Mr. Bam loaded food from 100 to 280kg per trip; During the whole campaign, he transported nearly 12,000kg of food, was awarded certificates of merit by the 4th Inter-Zone Supply Council, and was commended throughout Thanh Hoa province. There are also rubber sandals of Ha Thi Mien, the only remaining memento of Ha Thi Mien, a female citizen who bravely died while on the route loading bullets into the front.

On the occasion of his second visit to Thanh Hoa (June 13, 1957), when evaluating the contributions of the people of Thanh Hoa in the Dien Bien Phu campaign, President Ho Chi Minh praised “Wherever the voice of Vietnam reaches, the voice of Dien Bien Phu is heard. Wherever the voice of Dien Bien Phu is heard, the people of Thanh Hoa also have an honor to go there."
