According to Decision No. 1272/QD-TTg dated August 12, 2009 of the Prime Minister, the former and present battlefields that are the Dien Bien Phu Historical Relics Complex are recognized as one of the 10 special national relic sites by the Prime Minister.

The “Panorama Picture” is the largest-scale picture in Southeast Asia. The picture is presented in oil paint, circular shape, 132m long, 20.5m high, 42m in diameter; and the total area is up to 3,225m2The picture clearly describes and depicts the “Fifty-six days and nights digging up mountains, sleeping in trenches, eating rice with rain” of our army and people to make a victory that shook the world.

The Christian de Castries Tunnel marked the defeat of the French colonialists in Dien Bien. General Christian de Castries command tunnel is 20m long, 8m wide, with a vertical passageway, 2 doors at both ends. Inside the Tunnel, it is divided into 4 compartments and used as a workplace. This is a relic ranked 23rd special national historical relic site. Experiencing many changes in our history, our army and people still cannot forget the moment the flag fluttered on the roof of the Tunnel, chased the French colonialists.

Far about 15km from Dien Bien Phu City along the National Highway 279, there is a relic of the hand-drawn artillery road (under the area of Na Nhan Commune, Dien Bien Phu %city), the most unique in the world. Our comrade To Vinh Dien fell to make the song “Artillery Pulling Chant” become an immortal epic among the national defense songs of our army and people.

The Ban flower is a symbol of Dien Bien Province in particular and the Northwest in general.
