On the morning of May 28, the delegation of the Japan - Vietnam Cuisine Association led by Mr. Matsuo Tomoyuki, Chairman of the Japan - Vietnam Cuisine Association, visited and worked in Dien Bien province. He stated that The new buckwheat trees have been planted in some households primarily for ornamental purposes and in certain tourist spots to attract visitors for sightseeing and photography, without utilizing Macadamia trees for other purposes such as food production. Besides the priority direction of developing areas for buckwheat tree cultivation for tourism development, it may involve encouraging farmers to utilize post-harvest rice and maize cultivation land to plant buckwheat trees to create a commodity production area.

Dien Bien province proposed that the Japan - Vietnam Cuisine Association have specific orientations on the value of buckwheat, the practical demand for raw materials linked to the scale of buckwheat cultivation in Dien Bien province, the benefits for local residents participating in buckwheat production development. There are mechanisms, policies to support buckwheat production, connect the consumption of buckwheat products to guide and develop buckwheat cultivation locally, harmonizing the interests of residents, businesses in sustainable buckwheat development.

Currently, the demand for importing raw buckwheat seeds from Vietnam to make Soba noodles in Japan is huge.
