Thaco Marathon - Dien Bien Phu 2024: Welcome the delegation of relay runners from Quang Binh to the finish line

On the afternoon of April 13th, Dien Bien province welcomed a delegation of relay runners from Quang Binh to the finish line at the Memorial Area of General Vo Nguyen Giap in the Headquaters of Dien Bien Phu Campaign Muong Phang commune, Dien Bien Phu city).

Towards celebrating the 70th anniversary of the Dien Bien Phu Victory, the People's Committee of Dien Bien province presides and coordinates with the National Traffic Safety Committee and Traffic Newspaper to organize the Thaco Marathon - Dien Bien Phu 2024. Within the framework of the tournament, the relay team "Journey to Dien Bien" consisting of 10 athletes passed nearly 900 km starting on April 10th, starting from Quang Dong commune, Quang Trach district, Quang Binh province (Vung Chua, Yen Island - the resting place of General Vo Nguyen Giap) to Muong Phang commune, Dien Bien Phu city - General Vo Nguyen Giap memorial area belonging to Headquaters of Dien Bien Phu Campaign, carrying the “Decisive War - Decisive Victory” flag and the painting of General Vo Nguyen Giap. The running group reached the finish line safely according to plan.

At the Memorial Area, the delegation led by Mr. Nguyen Duc Thang - Deputy Editor-in-Chief of the Transport Newspaper, Deputy Head of the Organizing Committee, along with Mr. Le Kim Thanh - Deputy Head of the National Traffic Safety Committee, Mr.Truong Quang Hoai Nam - Deputy Head of the Central Foreign Affairs Committee, and 10 relay runners, solemnly offered incense, paid tribute to General Vo Nguyen Giap and the heroes, martyrs who sacrificed in the Dien Bien Phu campaign. Leaders from the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism; departments, agencies, organizations of the province, and members of the Organizing Committee also participated in the incense offering ceremony towards Dien Bien province. Next, the delegation proceeded to offer incense at the Martyrs' Cemetery at the Dien Bien Phu Battlefield. In the evening, there was an art program to welcome the tournament at the Victory Monument Square of the Dien Bien Phu. The opening ceremony of the Thaco Marathon - Dien Bien Phu 2024 will be officially opened at 7:30 am on the 14th of March at the Victory Monument Square, and will conclude at 4:00 pm on the same day. Currently, there are 2,300 athletes registered for the event, with 1,300 amateur athletes from Dien Bien province and 1,000 professional athletes participating. The competition will run from 4:00 am to 9:00 pm on the 14th of April.

The "Journey to Dien Bien" relay team consisting of 10 athletes who have covered nearly 900 km from April 10th to 13th, starting from Quang Binh province to Muong Phang commune, Dien Bien Phu city - General Vo Nguyen Giap memorial area.

The athletes carried  the "Decisive War - Decisive Victory" flag and the painting of President Ho Chi Minh and General Vo Nguyen Giap to the finish line safely as planned.

The Students in Muong Phang commune, Dien Bien Phu city welcomed the relay team.

The delegation of officials and runners respectfully offered incense and paid tribute to General Vo Nguyen Giap and the heroes and martyrs.
