HEADQUARTERS DIEN BIEN PHU CAMPAIGN IN THAM PUA CAVE

Address: Bo Village, Chieng Dong Commune, Tuan Giao District, Dien Bien Province.

Tham Pua Cave was chosen as the first location of Headquarters of Dien Bien Phu Campaign led by General Vo Nguyen Giap (from December 7th, 1953 to January 17th, 1954). On January 14th, 1954, in Tham Pua Cave, General Vo Nguyen Giap and the Front Command issued a secret battle order under the motto of "fighting quickly and winning quickly" and planned to open fire on January 20th, 1954.

In addition, Tham Pua Cave also contains multiple archaeological values. In the cave, more than 100 artifacts including cobblestone labor tools, rough-cut almond-shaped roughing tools, working tools made of conch shells and traces of coal ash,... have been found. All these artifacts have great historical significance to prove that this is the residence of the ancient Vietnamese people since ancient times, and this land is always associated with the history of existence and development as well as the history of the nation's struggle to build and defend the country.
