Representatives of the two Foreign Ministries, leaders of Dien Bien and Phongsaly provinces cut the ribbon to open the Nam Dich (Vietnam) - Huoi Hia (Laos) opening pair.

Attending the opening ceremony were Mr. Deputy Hoang Han, Deputy Director of the Western Department, National Border Committee, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam; Representative of Laos - Vietnam Border Office, Office of National Border Commission, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Lao PDR; Khamlek Chayesan, Member of Standing Committee of Provincial Party Committee, Deputy Governor of Phongsaly Province; Pham Duc Toan, Member of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee, Standing Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Dien Bien Province; the representatives of a number of departments and branches of the two provinces and a large number of people in the border areas.

The representatives of the two countries attended the opening of the Nam Dich - Huoi Hoa pair of openings.

The opening event of the Nam Dich (Vietnam) - Huoi Hia (Laos) opening is an important step in the development of relations between the two parties, the two states, the two provinces and the people on both sides of the border. Creating favorable conditions for people on both sides of the border to trade in goods, develop socio-economy, ensure national defense and security, and at the same time strengthen economic relations between the two provinces of Dien Bien and Phongsaly.

Mr. Pham Duc Toan, Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee spoke at the ceremony.

Speaking at the event, Vice Chairman of the Dien Bien provincial People's Committee Pham Duc Toan affirmed that the opening of the border crossing holds significant economic and political importance. It opened up new potential in economic, commercial, political, and cultural ties between the two provinces while laying a foundation for the registration and control of border entry and exit in accordance with legal regulations of both countries.

Deputy Governor of Phongsaly province Khamlek Chayesan spoke at the ceremony.

Deputy Governor of Phongsaly province Khamlek Chayesan, for his part, said the inauguration of the border crossing was an important milestone to further strengthen the great friendship and special solidarity between Vietnam and Laos, encouraging residents in border areas to exchange goods and production experience, thereby improving their lives.

Agreeing with the proposal of Dien Bien’s leader regarding the upgrade of the road from Muong May district to the Nam Dich - Huoi Hia border crossing, Chayesan wished the friendship and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos, and between Dien Bien and Phongsaly would be sustainable forever.  
At the opening ceremony, Dien Bien and Phongsaly provinces opened booths to select OCOP products and local agricultural products to introduce and promote to people on both sides of the border area.

Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Pham Duc Toan presents the painting to the Party Committee, government and people of Phongsaly  province.

On behalf of the Party Committee, the government and people of Dien Bien province, Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Pham Duc Toan presented the picture of President Ho Chi Minh and Chairman Kaysone Phomvihane to the party of ministries, government and people of Phongsaly province to demonstrate the determination to preserve and promote the great friendship between Vietnam and Laos. On this occasion, leaders of Phongsaly province also presented gifts to leaders of Dien Bien province.

The delegates visited the OCOP booth on the occasion of the opening.

The two countries have brought local agricultural products to showcase, promote, exchange and trade.
